MCP server

ServiceNow system properties in your AI assistant

The sysproperties.do MCP server lets Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code and other AI tools look up 7,300+ ServiceNow system properties while they answer you, with the default value, type and a plain-language explanation, plus a link to the property page.

  • Free
  • No API key or login
  • Read-only
  • Streamable HTTP

Server URL

Add this URL as a remote MCP server (also called a custom connector). No authentication is needed.

https://myhvtuybcqdltewbmkng.supabase.co/functions/v1/mcp

It is also listed in the official MCP Registry as do.sysproperties/servicenow-properties.

What it does

When you ask your assistant about a ServiceNow setting, it can call the server instead of guessing. The answers come from the same data as this website, so the assistant can tell you what a property changes, what its default is and where to read more.

  • search_servicenow_properties
    Finds properties by name fragment or topic, for example glide.email, "attachment size" or "session timeout".
  • get_servicenow_property
    Returns one property by its exact name: type, default value, application, description, explanation and the sysproperties.do link.
  • contact_maintainer
    Sends a correction, a missing property or other feedback to the maintainer, straight from the chat.

How to connect

Claude (claude.ai and Claude Desktop)

Open Settings, go to Connectors, choose "Add custom connector", give it a name such as sysproperties.do and paste the server URL. Then enable it in a chat from the tools menu.

Claude Code

claude mcp add --transport http sysproperties https://myhvtuybcqdltewbmkng.supabase.co/functions/v1/mcp

ChatGPT

In Settings, open Apps & Connectors and turn on Developer mode under Advanced settings. Then create a connector, paste the server URL and choose no authentication. Availability depends on your ChatGPT plan.

Cursor

Add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (or .cursor/mcp.json in a project):

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "sysproperties": {
      "url": "https://myhvtuybcqdltewbmkng.supabase.co/functions/v1/mcp"
    }
  }
}

VS Code (GitHub Copilot)

Add this to .vscode/mcp.json in your workspace, or run "MCP: Add Server" from the command palette:

{
  "servers": {
    "sysproperties": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://myhvtuybcqdltewbmkng.supabase.co/functions/v1/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Other clients

Any client that supports remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP works with the URL above. Clients that only run local (stdio) servers can use the mcp-remote bridge:

npx mcp-remote https://myhvtuybcqdltewbmkng.supabase.co/functions/v1/mcp

Example prompts

  • "Which ServiceNow property limits the maximum attachment size, and what is the default?"
  • "Explain glide.ui.session_timeout and what happens if I raise it."
  • "List the system properties that control inbound email processing."
  • "We are hardening our instance. Which security-related properties should I review?"
  • "Is there a property to change the default date format for all users?"

Limits and privacy

The server is free and read-only. To keep it that way for everyone, requests are rate limited per client (about 30 per minute and 1,000 per day). Search terms and tool names are logged to improve the data; no account, API key or personal data is required. Details are in the privacy policy.

sysproperties.do is an independent reference and is not affiliated with ServiceNow. Always test property changes in a sub-production instance first.

Questions

What is MCP?

The Model Context Protocol is an open standard that lets AI assistants call external tools and data sources. An MCP server like this one gives the assistant a reliable source instead of relying on what it remembers from training.

Does it cost anything?

No. The server is free to use and needs no API key or sign-up.

Can it change anything in my ServiceNow instance?

No. It never connects to your instance. It only reads the sysproperties.do reference.

Something is wrong or missing. How do I report it?

Ask your assistant to send feedback with the contact_maintainer tool, or use the contact page.
